I am a 20+ year hobbyist, shooting both Film & Digital, with a focus on the Outdoors; from Landscapes & Nature-Macro, to Outdoor Portraiture. I generally shoot from a candid-documentary point of view and encourage clients to be themselves so that I can capture the raw and natural emotions in a natural environment. My Gear, Process, and style

Until early 2023, my primary cameras were a Konica Autoreflex (35mm) & Nikon D40x (Digital); my first DSLR from Middle School. Although an entry level camera, that little guy is to thank for the majority of what I have shared with you here. When both of these came to the end of their lives, I moved to my current gear:

DIGITAL: NIKON D810

35MM: NIKKORMAT EL

120: YASHICA MAT 124G

I work primarily in Adobe Lightroom Classic, with occasional bridging to Adobe Photoshop for focus stacks or the rare composite.

I use my own custom pre-sets to get things started, and then each image is adjusted from there to my liking. I keep away from AI (artificial intelligence) and other heavy manipulations, allowing the true beauty of things to remain. I believe that if something is permanent in the scene (a telephone pole or a scar) then it should remain in the image. If something is temporary (a car driving by or a zit), then that can be removed, only when necessary. I will not air-brush skin, I will no longer remove distracting elements from backgrounds, I will not replace skies or other ‘Photoshopping’

Coming from a film background, I strive for the perfectly imperfect images. Photography being another art form means that by nature, it is imperfect. I like to (warning: getting technical here..) shoot wide open for a softer look, use any ISO (without de-noising) that gets the job done, and I will stick with DSLRs as long as they are still on the market.
